What are the formulas used in the calculation of the gasket compression for all types of loading.
There are no imperical formulas, a
finite element solution is performed on the flange/gasket/bolt model to obtain the deflections.
I would like to know about the relevant codes & standards showing these formulas.
At the time we developed this processor (1991), there were no codes or standards that addressed flange leakage. Only recently have some codes started to address leakage.
Which code gives the gasket comprssion model as a criterion for the flange leakage test.
None that I am aware of.
The flange leakage modeler in
CAESAR II is something that was developed/invented here, internally at COADE. We did this because of all the requests we had for a solution to flange leakage. The assumptions and methodology employed are documented in the October 1991 issue of the COADE newsletter,
