A relief valve system Pops up at 650 msec.

(OCC) COM#1 Max response Load case gives report of max. load on a particular restraint with 50 msec as its TIME of occurance.

Does this mean that the restraint should be designed for this max. prevailing load at 50 msec.? This load will be max. as compared to all other (OCC)COM#1 CASES.

Query is if the max load is occuring at 50 msec which is well before the relief valve pop up of 650 msec then does this case of (OCC) COM#1 max. response govern for obtaining restraint loads ?

Regards

Sandeep

If your load ramps up from 0 msec to 650 msec, and the output shows a restraint load maximum occuring at 50 msec, then strange as it may seem, yes this is the maximum restraint load seen by the restraint.

If you want us to look over your data, send the job files (._A, ._J, ._7).

While the maximum dynamic response is correct, we can automatically accept the maximum combination without qualification. The program will extract the maximum dynamic response, either positive or negative, without regard for its sign. This may cause trouble when combining it with a signed, static case. For example, of the dynamic max is -1000 and the static load (with which it is combined) is -500, the program will display -1500 as the combination load. That's fine. But what if the static load is +250? The combination will read -750. But there might be a dynamic response (at another time) of +800 (which of course is not the maximum load) giving a true maximum response of +1050.

Keep an eye on the signs.
