I am modelling a above ground pipeline which has about 50 supports. How do I globally change the friction factor for the restraints. I want to see the effect of 0.4 friction and then change it to zero friction.

I cant see any way other than going to each support and changing the number there.

I have also tried the friction factor in the CII configeration but that doesnt work either.

thanks

Hi,

On the Load case editor of the static analysis, Tab “Load case option”, then scroll right and change the “friction multiplier value” to the value required.

Jens,

Changing the friction coefficient in the Configuration only affects "new restraints" that you add to a model. (You wouldn't want this option to change all the supports for all existing models in the directory - right?)

As OG stated, you can scale the friction coefficient used by adjusting the friction multiplier on the "Load Case Options" tab of the "Static Load Case Editor".

But, if you actually want to change your input values of the friction coefficient, the most efficient way to do this is to pull up the "restraint list", and just go down the "Mu" column, adjusting the values.
