Hi Jaro,

Yup! My friend is doing 4.5 while im doing 5.0 with same license.
I think there is no problem with it. But if you model in vr. 5.0 and convert it into vr. 4.5 via neutral file, there then you will have some problem but 4.5 to 5.0 i think it's okay.

Regards!

Thanks Bom, it's that what I want to know, :-)

I know about converting problem from v5.00 into v4.50. But do you know something about converting Load Case definition file? Is it also a problem or it's better to made a different files (one in 5.0, other in 4.5) and then paste it into corresponding Caesar model. (?)

Last time when i make a load case in vr. 4.5 and make an analysis for it and its okay... but when i open my file in vr. 5.0 my load case is reset. So i was force to make the load case definition again.

I never tried to copy the definition but insted I reinput it. It take time but im sure that my result is same as before... I know Sir Richard got a very good suggestion.. wink

Regards!

In C-II 5.0 coping load case definition file (_J file) is easy and I haven't any problem with it. Once I have definied all cases and then copied _J file. Then in future when I'm doing a new model simply exchange _J file. And it's always Ok.

I have never work with C-II 4.5 so I'm wondering if the same operation can be done with that version (?)

hmmm.. I understand that we always need asurance of our work... so i never tried converting/copy load case definition from vr. 4.5 to 5.0 or in other way around. It may take me a time to change all the definition for client request but for same as you said, just run one case and copy for the similar requirements... smile
I am new to this things so i rather take my time than lose my head... grin

I'm not sure if I understand you last answer grin but you're probably wright - to be in a hurry it's not a good consultant, but when I have about 90 lines at load cases definition file typing it again at new model will not put me in good mood grin

Version 5.10 has a load case template import feature that allows you to import load cases from another file. The only catch is that both files must be in the same units and both files must have the same loads defined (for example, you can't import a load case file with 5 different displacements if you don't have 5 displacement vectors defined in the current file).

Good Day Sir Loren,

Thank You for your quick response...

But is it posible to copy/convert case definitions from 4.5 to 5.0 or 5.0 to 4.5?

Regards!

Yes you can copy from 4.50 to 5.00. No you can't copy from 5.00 to 4.50 - we added additional data to the _J file - this will choke Version 4.50.
