Can Ansys perfom Finite element analysis to finding out SIF's of Mitre Bends, Tee's for Pipe of D/t greater than 100 ?

ANSYS will not do a postprocessing to compute SIF like FEPipe does. However , the user can find out in some simple steps:

1) Make the model.

2) For the specified pipe size and wall thickness, compute the moment to give a stress of 1KSI for the connected pipe, by the simple formula stress = M/Z

3) In the model on application of this Bending Moment see if the stress at the free end is equal to IKsi. This will tell you if the effect of the bend has died down.

4) Now divide the stress at bend ( max) with this nominal stress and the ratio of the two , divided by 2 ( why?) will give you the required SIF.

Regards
