Hello everyone,

I am checking a piping system specifically on spring hanger supports. I have found out that CAESAR II calculates the spring variability depending on the user's selection at the pull down menu "hanger table" (i.e a 200 series which allows CAESAR to get a cold load design for spring selection.)

for selection of 200 series in hanger table menu:

Variablility = (spring rate x movement) / cold load??? (this should be hot load)

What happens is if CAESAR uses cold load (for 200 series) to calculate the variability, if piping lift-up the cold load > hot load... then possiblity of variability is > 25%...

Example from caesar output using (200 series) for spring selections: movement=0.577", SR=400ln/in, Hot Load=803lb, Cold Load=1034lb), Variablity = 22% --- but re-calculate using hot load, Variablity = 28%

Need advice regarding this matter.

Thank you.
