yes and no... you can create a neutral file from the V5.0 file and then import the neutral file into V4.4 but.... if your model has used any features only found in V5 your import will not bring those across... what comes to my mind is the reducer element, but there may be others as well check the build file for differences....

Even if you don't have reducers, you will still have to edit the neutral file and delete the "reducer header". If you don't, the 4.40 import will choke and die.

As John said, there could be other problems as well. We never worry about moving down in "versions".

No not really. Once you open the ".C 2" archive (by starting any program module), the _J file will be exposed. The problem with trying to go back in Versions is that the older Version will choke on any new data added for the new Version.

HI SAM,
the best way to know how the convert is that make a piping model with all type of piping component in both the version. create neutral file from ver 5.00 and same time create neutral file from ver 4.00. now u can open both the neytral file in "notepad". see the differences between them. automatically u will get the answer.

there will will some parameters for control file. u hav to edit those parameters. there are two main paerameter has to be edited.
1. reducer element and any other elemnet having sif valve
2. allowable stress rows.

just check out both the neutal files. u can see the difference and same time u will get the idea how to convert from ver 5.00 to ver 4.00
at last import edited neutral file in ver 5.00
still if u get any problem then just reply me.
