May be a stupid question but.
Does the WRC329 tick box work in version 5 for welding & reinforced tees?
Not sure whether I am missing something but can't seem to get anything but B31.3 App. D sifs for 30"x3" branch with repad.
No RFT/WLT tickbox is clear.

Yes, it works. The checkboxes that you are looking for are located in Configure/Setup under the SIFs and Tees tab.

Thanks Loren,

I had already found the checkboxes,
I checked WRC329, when that didn't work I also changed the reduced intersection pull down to WRC329.
No RFT/WLT is unchecked.

I have a 1.5" branch with weldolet which is working to WRC329 when I check the SIF scratch pad, but as I said the 3" repad branch gives me 6.012 ii & io (so WRC329 is partly working), if I change the branch type to unreinforced the SIF's change inline with WRC329

Is I doing something wrong or has a decision been made not to include reinforced tees as part of the WRC329 implementation in CII?

Send your file to techsupport@coade.com and I will look at it. Be sure to let me know what piping node I should look at so I don't have to spend time searching for it.

For reinforced and welding tees, the WRC329 option does not alter the branch SIF values.

Richard are you saying their should be a change in the header SIF for welding tees & reinforced branches as I am getting no change to branch or header SIF's.

I was under the impression from reading the tech ref. that ticking the WRC329 box included Reinforced & welding tees even though they were not specifically mentioned in WRC329 & if you didn't want them included you ticked the No RFT/WLT box.

Has CII revised the way the WRC329 checkbox works since the tech ref was written or have I mis understood it?

I checked the "source code" to answer your question. Things have always been this way - no changes here. I'll have the Technical Reference Manual reviewed on this issue.

Paul,

Caesar II has not changed anything on this directive since the original program was released in the DOS version and the Technical Reference Manual does not state anything incorrectly. In fact the manual simply states that checking this box will use the WRC329 equations exactly, but not only for B31.1, B31.3, ASME NC, and ASME ND, but also for additional piping codes not covered by the bulletin. It makes no reference to which tees WRC329 does not apply. For that information you need to read the WRC329 bulletin. WRC329 does not apply to Reinforced Fabricated Tees nor Welding Tees. For all other tee types it will apply.

OK thank you both.

I mis understood what was being quoted in explanation of "No RFT/WLT in reduced fitting SIF" checkbox and assumed that it meant that it would include these fittings in WRC329 unless the checkbox was checked.

I have now seen the error of my ways as reading page 6-100 RFT & WLT are excluded from your WRC329 calcs.

Very sorry for the confusion I must check thru' the manuals more.

I had noticed that WRC329 did not include for reinforced branches but only because there was not enough data to make any definitive recommendations & I had assumed (wrongly) that you were including them.

There again my gut feeling is that as long as repads are not to wide then same kind of stresses will apply to headers & branches as for weldolets and unreinforced branches.
