This can happen if what your asking for isn't standard (and therefore not in the database).

What (exactly) are you selecting, and what is your diameter and pressure?

The pipe sizes have to match. I modified the file Cadworx.vhd to include 2 instead of 1 to reflect metric sizes. To enter a valve or flange for 600 mm pipe size, i first changed the dia to 24" (609.6mm) , entered the valve-flange & then changed it back to 600 mm. Is this the right practice.
Do i need do the way as above to use this databse.

I don't understand what you're describing. All you should have to do is select the pressure classe, the end type, and the type of valve. If the data exists for that combination, the weight and length are filled in for you. If the data doesn't exist for your select, it gives you an error.

The only database to which you can add data, or modify data, is CADWorx. The other valve/flange databases are not open for user modification.

Could you please answer the following quesitons:

1) What version, build of CAESAR II do you have?
2) Do you have CADWorx installed on the machine anywhere?
3) Do you have a registry entry for "HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Coade, Inc./CADWorx 2004/Pipe/Settings/Program Path 16"?
4) Do you have a registry entry for "HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Coade, Inc./CADWorx 2004/Pipe/Settings/Configuration 16"?
5) Do you have a registry entry for "HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Coade, Inc./CADWorx/Pipe/Settings"?
6) Can you send me the VALVE.HED from your data directory?
7) Can you send the CAESAR.CFG from your data directory?
8) Can you send the job you are working on?

Your problem is that you are using the ANSI pipe spec. So when you change the diameter to 600 mm, it sets it to an actual diameter of 600 mm. Which doesn't match any nominal, and therefore doesn't find a match in the database.

You have three options:
  • Enter the nominal as 24 (inch), and it will convert to 609.6 mm);
  • Select the DIN piping database in Configure/Setup, and enter the nominal as 600 (from whence it will convert to 609.6 mm);
  • Type in 609.6 mm directly.

We used your VALVE.HED and got selected a 150 lb butterfly valve with attached flanges. Everything worked fine.

Hello Richard,

I am having problems, when I try to open a .CAESAR II file that doesn´t have the valve.hed in the same folder. I need to copy it into the folder to open.

Any idea??
Thanks.

Use the Configuration Module to save a "Caesar.cfg" file to that same data folder. You should also then have that ".hed" file.
