There are various methods available for flange leak. But none of them depicts true picture.
Caesar has flange calc which shoudl help you.

There are many ways to check out what we call 'flange leakage', from simple one line equations to elaborate analyses. I disagree with Alok, finite element analysis of the flange pair, gasket and bolts will provide results as accurately as a Caesar II analysis of a pipe system. Both make assumptions and approximations.

Flange analyses based on ASME VIII only address flange stresses and some texts relate that to leakage. The new European EN1591 / EN13445 method uses a complex method which is both stress and strain based and essentially addresses the whole flange assembly as a simplified finite element model.

Relevance of all analysis results and predictions are dependent upon fundamentals such as proper pipe alignment and in many cases the 250lb fitter with a large wrench and a bad temper however.

Hey I resemble that fitter!!!! and according to some also have the ill temper!

The ASME B16.5 has a lot of words in it not just the P&T tables. Some of those words describe the liabilties if the bolted pressure joint as well as just because the P&T table says its OK it may not be leak free if pryed on!

I advise reading B16.5 and anything written by either Payne, Koves or Bickford on the bolted joint! Dr. W Koves even has a piece of software called Kflange for those who ar interested enough to pay money for some added analysis.
