In the technical paper "New Piping Flexibility Rules
in ASME B31.3, Appendix P" authored by Charles Becht IV & David W. Diehl, In the load case definitions, Strain range between operating and cold shutdown positions are shown like ( W+T1+P1)-( W+T2). Why is it not ( W+T1+P1)-( W+T2 +P2).Need clarification from seniors.
Regards,

Are you talking about Appendix P in 31.3 2004?

What is "P2" defined as? I assume if it's cold shutdown condition, then pressure would be 0 and thus not needed. (I haven't read the paper, so keep that in consideration).

P2=0 so it is not needed in the cold shutdown load case.

The Example 1 model used in the PVP paper came from B31.3 - 2004 Appendix S.
