As there is not much difference in large bore pipe & horizontal vessel saddle support design except in controlling code, can the saddle shoe be designed by static vessel design using PVElite ?

I don't know what PVelite uses but if its the "Zwick" methodology it should be fine....

I think best is you ask on the pressure vessel forum what the program can do. You should be able to post with your normal logging. Last time I had vessel designed the designer calculated the saddles using one of the programs. Pipe support may have moments that vessel support normally doesn't have.

I have a large bore thin wall case now where customer is asking FEA/FEM on all support points.
