Floating Roof Tanks Design - 08/03/11 12:43 PM

Good afternoon, I need to know how I consider the floating roof tank design at the TANK program.

I can be considered as a cone roof tank?

I await your prompt response

No a floating roof cannot be approximated as a cone roof. tk does not address floating roofs - all such designs are proprietary.

Good Morning Mr.Richard,

But the design of the tank body and conical roof would take place after the calculation of the floating roof apart.

This way is feasible? what method do you recommend?

Is referring your question to tanks with an internal floating roof and a fixed roof at the top of the tank shell- as described in API 650, Appendix H- INTERNAL FLOATING ROOFS?

If the answer is "yes", you may think that there is a the supplementary pressure due to increasing in height level (due to floating roof existence) which is equivalent to the weight of floating roof reported to the bottom surface.

Best regards.
