H1 reduction Factor - 10/08/10 07:27 AM
While Design a tank At A temperature of 230deg C, I am getting one factor Called as H1 Reduction coefficient.
This factor could not be located in API 650 or 653
Can somebody guide me on this?

Hello Rajesh
At elevated temperatures, the design stress is reduced by a reduction factor. You can find the details in API 650 Appendix M.

Thanks Ray for your reply,
But calculations show two factors one as Yield Strength Reduction as per Table-M1
And
H1 reduction factor due to temperature
Are both used for calculations

Hello Rajesh
The reduction factor is for the tank shell, and also for other components, such at intermediate wind girder(s) etc.
Please refer to Appendices M.6, S.3.6.7 for stainless steel and X.3.7.5 for Duplex Steel.
