WRC-107 & 297 - Reinformcement pad edge stress - 03/23/10 04:01 AM

Dear All,

In my case if i am performing WRC-107 calcualtion, then stress at reinforcement pad edge are within the allowable limit. While same nozzle is modelled in WRC-297 the stress are much higher than allowable limit.

Request you to guided...

Simillar kind of query was asked earlier but i could not found the answerer...

Hello dhaval

WRC 297 is a later development of WRC 107 (for cylindrical shells only). WRC 297 attempted to refine the procedure in the light of later research work. Thus, the two bulletins could very well give different results.

Dhaval,

If your geometry is well within the WRCB-107 geometry criteria, then dont go for WRCB-297. If your geometry is not within the limitations of WRCB-107, then you must go for WRCB-297 and check whether your geometry fall in the same. If yes then you must use WRCB-297. If it is not falling within WRCB-297 limits then go for Finite Element Analysis.

Remember one thing WRCB-297 is supplementary code to WRCB-107.

Also as Ray have said both working on different concepts so results would be definitely different.

Thanks.
