WRC297 warning message - 10/13/08 03:44 AM

Dear members,

I’m new engineer and new user for PVElite software. So, I’m still in learning process and many things that I don’t know. Hope all can help me….

Actually, I want to know about warning messages in WRC297 output (in PVElite). Why it happens and why we can accept that.

I try to find out about that before, but it difficult because I didn’t have any source (reference) like WRC bulletin or others.

So, it is very appreciated if anyone could help me by explain it detail to me…

Can you be a bit more specific, which particular warning message you mentioned?

Dear gr2vessels,

Thanks to you respond...wonder no one explains it to me.

Ok...
I have one vessel with this specification...

Shell
Inside Diameter , Dv = 806.000 mm
Thickness , Tv = 22.0000 mm

Nozzle
Outside Diameter , Dn = 152.400 mm
Thickness , Tn = 25.4000 mm

A result for wrc297 show it pass, but the warning message (below) are appear in the result.

"Warning - The ratio, Dn/Tn (6.000) is < 20
check the limitations of WRC bulletin 297."

So,I want to know, why it happens and why we can accept that. Because, as i know the limitation for wrc297 is Dn/Tn < 20

Thanks....

Dear Ara,

Although it is not explicitly stated in many of these bulletins, you have to determine applicability by reviewing all of the graphs and their useful range. In a brief review of 297 it looks there are no graphs for (Nozzle Diameter/nozzle thickness (d/t)) < 10.0. And for a particular stress result there is not a graph for (d/t) < 20. This is probably why you get the warning.
