Hello Ricardo

Please excuse my sense of humour, but we only eat bananas in America. Seriously, perhaps you mean something a little more serious. Maybe you are referring to the banana effect a long vessel experiences with all the welding, and the vessel gets bent into a banana shape. This occurs especially if you have a lot of nozzles on one side of the vesel. One way of straightening the vessel is to partially half grind out the circumferential weld seams on the outside bend of the 'banana' and re-weld them. The shrinkage from the welding pulls the vessel straight. Be very careful if it is a stainless steel vessel which is more prone to shrinkage.

You can get a lot of advise from the book: Design of Welded Structures by Omar Blodgett which is a Lincoln Welding Foundation bood. This book is a masterpiece.

This is a common analysis consideration for Pipe Stress Analysis for lines attached to the upper part (e.g. head) of a coke drum. During the cooling portion of the cycle, one side of the coke drum may be much cooler than the other side of the tall drum. A typical number is 6" (150 mm) horizontal deflection at the top head.

hii.
i am studying delayed coke drum for my post graduation project. i want to understand temperature profile inside coke drum and method to calculate banana effect.banana effect generally occurs during quenching.. so can i take quenching temperatures as boundary conditions to calculate it.. is it possible to get banana moment curve using ANSYS thermal and structural analysis on coke drum model?

Banana effect occurs due to temperature gradients during the operation of coke drums. It is a complex phenomina. This causes coke drums to bend in banana shape. You can study the loading history during coking and decoking, which are @ 24-36 hrs operating cycles, and try to carry out transient analysis.
