Fatigue Analysis according to PD:5500

Fatigue Analysis according to PD:5500 - 07/30/07 12:54 AM

I have come across one problem, while designing vessels according to PD 5500. I have to consider the fatigue load due to the WAVE MOTION as well as due to PRESSURE fluctuation.
If anybody can tell me how to do this thing in PVElite?

Amit,

PVElite will carry out fatigue analysis of pressure cycles only. If you have selected the PD 5500 Saddle Calc Option under Load Cases... Installation|Misc. Options then PVelite will report stresses in the output that you could use in a separate fatigue assessment.

Thank you Stan for quick reply.
But there isn't any way by which I can consider both the fatigue loads simultaneously.
Also the SEPARATE FATIGUE assessment you are talking about is by usimg PVElite or by some manual calculations?

Amit,

I don't believe PVElite can do this at the moment and yes, the separate assessment would be by hand. If someone at COADE could confirm or otherwise then that will be helpful.

Yes, PV Elite performs cyclic pressure fatigue analysis and fatigue analysis for vortex shedding. As Mr. McKay mentioned, you will have to perform the mechanical fatigue analysis by hand.
