PVElite - Internal Stiffening Rings with Fabricated Sections

Hi

I am trying to model an inner stiffening ring on a Shell for External pressure design.

Stiffening Ring Dialog - When the option for Ring location is set as ID, and custom ring model specified with Section Calculator, the ring doesn't show up on the ID of the shell. It shows up as an external ring sitting on the OD. Is this a bug in the software?

Thanks for pointing this out to us.

Yes, ideally the fabricated section ring should show up on the inside or outside of the vessel as specified.

We'll investigate and get this graphics issue fixed up for 2016 SP1.

Does it mean that the problem is only with the Graphics. Are the detailed calculations considering the ring on the ID?

The calculations are just fine. The wall of the vessel does not care which side the ring is on. This is just a graphics issue.
