Nozzle Reinforcement Calculations [A5]

Nozzle Reinforcement Calculations [A5] - 03/26/13 08:08 AM

I was review the calculations PVElite was performing for nozzle reinforcement and there is a variable, tp, specified when calculating area available in element [A5]. Does anyone know what this variable stands for?

Area Available in Element [A5]:
= (min(Dp,DL)-(Nozzle OD))*(min(tp,Tlwp,te))*fr4

Thickness of Pad?

I had originally thought the same thing but te is already thickness of element.

I can see in older books as "Descriptive Guide to the ASME Code Pressure Vessels" UG 37.1 figures out Tp instead te. I haven't old ASME stuff on paper to check the nomenclature.
I guess was a transition in software calculation and report- but here I just speculate.

I can see also in a PV Elite 2008 (May 2008) report, Tp was listed in Input as Tp= Thickness of Pad; however reference was made to ASME Section VIII Division 1, ASME Code Version 2007.

So tp and te are essentially the same value?
