Both Plant 3D and Cadworx installed on the same machine? - 06/27/22 01:34 PM

Our company is running both Cadworx 2020 R2 sp1 on autocad 2022 and Plant 3D 2022. the problem is that we cant get either one to load by themselves. when we open plant 3D icon it tries to run cadworx on top of plant 3D. the same thing happens when we try to open Cadworx. it tries to run on top of Plant 3d. is there a fix to this by plugging in some kind of profile clearing syntax in the "target" of each icon?

Do you have regular AutoCAD installed also ? I recall Plant 3D does not have a regular AutoCAD profile like Mechanical or electrical, so Plant is the only option it can latch on to.

You could try the following.

1. Uninstall everything.
2. Install regular AutoCAD
3. Install CADworx
4. Install Plant 3D

I use these in my shortcuts as part of the Target path.

For CADWorx and AutoCAD I use
"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2022\acad.exe" /product ACAD /P CADWorx_Plant_2020_R2

For Plant3D I use
"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2022\acad.exe" /product PLNT3D /language "en-US"

it looks like i was able to fix this by rebuilding fresh .arg profiles and exporting them out.

Nice find, the only other thing I could think of was the CADWorx Settings.
SaveLastProfileUsed should always be set to NO

SaveLastProfileUsed
Default value: No
Allowed values: No or Yes
Specifies whether CADWorx saves the last profile used on exit. When a drawing file is double-clicked in Windows Explorer, or if the CAD platform is started using an icon without specifying any profile, the CAD platform always loads the last profile used.
No Prevents CADWorx from saving the last profile used.
Yes Allows CADWorx to save the last profile used.
