Custom Spec Information(ie. Valve Trim or Operator)

Custom Spec Information(ie. Valve Trim or Operator) - 05/13/22 09:48 AM

I have a client that is wanting as much information as possible to be added to the long description of several components. I will use the valve though as an example. Is there a way to add a custom table for the various valve trims and then reference one of those options with a format code instead of having to hard type that information over and over again. Same situation on other pieces of a valve like the operator type.

Thanks,

Index and Dat Codes should do what you are after, but it needs to be a full long description based on the index code. If you are looking to build a long description based on many different fields, then you can add the fields to one of the required tables like materials. Then as you build your long description, you point to that table and pull in the data. I haven't found a way to create a custom table for this and we just use one of plant's required tables.

Have you looked at using Custom Data ?

I will look into the suggestions here. We looked at just adding Custom Data on the data table for valve. However, it was then an issue with inside the same spec, we would be linking to that same data table and needing two different operators and valve trims.

I am still trying to learn what all I can do inside the specification editor to streamline the process. So it will take me some time to learn how to implement the suggestions given.

I believe the catalog level custom data can be set as a default, but can be overidden in the model with different data
