CADworx does not see Autocad during install

CADworx does not see Autocad during install - 05/06/19 10:59 AM

Having trouble installing 2018 Cadworx plant on a new machine, that already has 2018 Autocad. Cadworx won't find Autocad on the machine, thereby disabling installation.
All installation instructions have been followed, as they were on multiple machines, successfully.

Any ideas?

Have you opened AutoCAD yet on the current user profile you're trying to install CADworx on?
Try opening and closing AutoCAD 2018 (Running a repair on AutoCAD accomplishes the same thing), then try the install again.

Yes, did all of that. No luck. Cadworx installation just won't recognize autocad.

trying to contact ECE for assistance, but they won't return the phone call. zero help....

Try a dummy user on the same box.

Check the registry for the appropriate AutoCAD entries - thats what the CADWorx installer is looking for. Sounds like something didn't get written, typically from security restrictions on the user.

I apologize it took our guys a few hours to get back to you on this issue. Unfortunately, ECE is no longer a support channel for your company since there are no longer any CADWorx resellers in US market.

To address your issue, dgorsman is correct. There are issues with CADWorx not being able to find the registry settings for certain AutoCAD verticals or with limited permissions. If you are running a vertical (like Map, Civil 3D... double check the registry to see if they are being written. We have had to manually add them, in the past.

Hello Matt,

Yes, it was the registry. Needed to uninstall and reinstall Autocad, then CADWorx was able to recognize Autocad on the work station.

Glad you got it working.

For technical support, you would be dealing with Hexagon directly now. You will need to access Smart Support through a login. Whomever is your admin or possibly IT should be able to get you set up with a login. If you have issues setting it up email me and we can see about getting that rolling.

If you have AutoCAD already installed just open AutoCAD once under login name that you are using to install CADWorx. Then when you go to install CADWorx it will see AutoCAD 2018.
