Dimension on insulation symbol - 09/03/15 01:11 AM

Hello,
Does anyone know how to stop Cadworx or isogen from adding a dimension to the insulation symbol? Sample image attached.
Cheers

If that's coming in as a reference dimension (check the PCF content?), then you could supress it. Then again, you'd lose other ref. dims such as wall penetrations.

Why are you using the symbol instead of regular insulation indication alongside piping and components?

Why do we use the symbol? Tradition? Personal preference? We have nearly always done it that way. It makes for a cleaner ISO. The title block also includes information about the insulation and trace heat if required.

By "regular insulation" I presume you mean the dotted lines both side of all components? That is an alternative I'm keeping as a last resort, or one of. At the moment we have to go into all the isos after they are run and delete the offending dimensions. Very doable but a pain. Some clients require so much "tarting" that it doesn't matter, for others it is the only reason to edit the iso at all, those are the ones I'd really like to fix.

Why does it not place a ref' dim' to the flow arrow? perhaps you could "save as" the flow arrow over the insulation symbol or edit its attributes to be like the flow arrow? I don't know how the supplemental stuff works. But I would like to suppress the ref' dims' to u-bolts..

Russell refer to viloga's post here...

does that help?

I presume that the lack of an answer along the lines of "just tick this box" to stop the dimension means it's a bug, after all flow arrows don't do it. I haven't had any answer from Intergraph either :-(

The supplemental insulation symbol is simple, standard out of the box, no customization required, way of indicating insulation that we have used for years, unfortunately that was in Autoplant rather than Cadworx. I am trying to only change the way people work and the style of output when required. Both programs use isogen (or used to in Autoplants case) and we were able to copy the styles across from Autoplant to Cadworx with virtually no extra input required, it was awesome. I have since added a few extra "frills" to the cadworx setup as well to make it even better still. Unfortunately it looks like insulation is the exception, it's starting to look like we need to change the way we do it.
I've had a quick look at viloga's post, it is a possibility I might look into, but to be honest I was hoping for a quick easy answer, that one doesn't look quick and easy enough for me :-)

Cheers

Hi All, just checking on this old post if anyone came up with a solution to suppress the dimension to insulation supplemental symbol?
