can I copy equipment from another project and rename it? - 02/04/19 02:07 PM

I'm new to Cadworx, I have a old project that has the exact same equipment needed for the new one. When I double click on the shell it doesn't come up in the Equipment modeler where I can rename it.

How old is the equipment model ? I know at one point in timeI think round about the 2010 release there were changes made in the XDATA structure of equipment to allow for new functionality.

The other option could a units mismatch in the config file. I have had this before with nozzles before were a model was done in metric/inch units and then opened with the config set to metric/metric. The nozzles are then not editable.

its probably 3-4 years old. The nozzles have intelligence but the body (shell) does not. When I run a iso, on the iso sheet the nozzles say they are part of the old project equipment. I need to change wherever that info is to the new equipment number.

here it is, can you tell me what was used to make and is there a way I can name it what I want in cadworx and keep the nozzles intelligent.

Mrragpicker,

This is not a CADWorx Equipment model. This is model that has been made using 3d solids and CADWorx (Plant) piping components. There is no way to convert this to a CADWorx Equipment model other than remodelling.

The model is still usable, you could get creative with messages and SKEYS to get the desired results.

What I would do is remove the intelligence from the components, then add generic nozzle information with ENGENERIC.

thanks, that's what I thought but I'm new to cadworx so I had to ask. I have been using generic nozzles, just didn't know if that was proper. My last 3d project was using autocad plant3d. In it you can highlight a group of solids and give it a equip number, then add nozzle info that recognizes the equip on isos. thanks again for the help, I'm sure I'm going to need more.
