Customizing CADWorx Steel - 07/16/14 07:04 AM

Of what is defined in the config file, what can be customized as far as layers?
Can I add layers? Can I have Steel go in on a different layer? Can I rename layers? Is it limited to 20 layers, etc?
Has anybody changed much of what is defined in the program?

thanks!

Steel will always come in on layer10. You redefine the name to structural for example. You can also redefine colours and linetypes. If you delete layers, objects will be placed on layer 0.

Yes you can add layers.

thank you.
What I am trying to explore is how much can I get CW Steel to do and how much would I have to do manually...
for instance; if I want to make an ex_steel layer, can I get the program to place existing steel on one layer and still get it to place new steel on layer 10 (Steel)?
thank you

There is a tickbox called existing in the steel edit dialog boxes. Your workflow would be to model the steel work then SGCEDITALL to make the members existing. I believe it automatically goes to the existing layer then.
