When placing or modifying the length of W shape beams with centerline of member at the top, then coping that member to another member, beam or column, the ends correctly cope but the coped member is also split lengthwise and at a diagonal angle. When the beam is placed with the centerline at the bottom of the beam and then coped, everything is fine. However, if I double-click the beam and change the centerline location to the top the beam is then split as it was originally. I am using Cadworx 2014. This has never happened while using 2012 or 2013 and it has only just started happening in the past day.
thank you.

I deleted the red beam, then ran a SCONVERTSOLID on the existing beam, then recoped it.

Looks like there was two beams on top of one another.

Thank you, vanman.

Is it possible that when modifying the centerline location of the beam the program actually places a second beam?
I think the modifying of the beam centerline is the key to the issue.
Has anyone else had this happen? I will ask the designer to try and re-produce what you have done, Vanman.

However, if I double-click the beam and change the centerline location to the top the beam is then split as it was originally.

thank you!
