Error at Startup: Suggestions are Appreciated - 10/28/19 05:36 AM

See the attached image. This error message appears at startup from the I-Configure icon as I prepare to set up the ISOGEN application.

Additional observation: This error occurs when activating -Configure within Plant as well.

I can't find the resolution just yet on the web.

I do not have technical support coverage - (the first time in several years).

I re-installed CADWorx 2019 two times on BricsCAD releases 18 and 19.2 and the error message in the initial text of this message still appears.

All other CADWorx 2019 tools work correctly on the BricsCAD 19.2 except for I-Configure.

One additional error shows just before the application aborts when selecting either a new or existing isometric directory:

Do you have admin rights? It may be failing to initialize registry keys or files in protected locations, and failing.

Hello "dgorsman"!

Since working here, local administrator privileges are mine: I can install software as-needed. I must say that at this point in the thread especially, your interest and suggestions are very much appreciated.

PAST SUCCESS
The ISOGEN tool was successfully run in a prior CADWorx/BricsCAD version pairing in a demo setup (when I had support) at the beginning of 2019.

WINDOWS REGISTRY
Very cautiously and with past success as a forced techie (solving my own CAD-related issues as my IT colleague is overloaded and non-CAD based), I have tweaked the registry with online guidance or watching support do the same.
QUESTION: Are there any specific registry locations that might cause this issue?

I hate to digress to earlier BricsCAD/CADWorx combinations but may try it.

This issue happened as my plans were to get the whole of CADWorx off the ground were in action. ISOGEN plays a major role as our engineering manager highly values iso piping diagrams - otherwise manually drawn by another with AutoCAD LT (all others here use it or BricsCAD Classic that most will transition to).

Re: Error at Startup: Suggestions are Appreciated - 10/29/19 05:26 AM

I changed what I noticed was a BETA release license of BricsCAD active. I then de-activated it and switched to my Platinum purchased license. I then uninstalled and reinstalled CADWorx Pro 2019. The error message persists.

Any clues, anyone?

Tried 2018 CADWorx on BricsCAD 2017: The ISOGEN error issue persists !!!

No support plan this year means I am at a loss and NO automated iso piping generation.

Any assistance is appreciated.

it looks like a windows error of some sort. Try creating a new windows user profile and see if the error persists.

Worst case, you should be able to installe CADWorx on another computer, if that runs I-Config you can set up a style on a server and then just connect to it.

It would mean that edits would need to be done on the other computer.

Agreed, I think you will need to try with a clean uninstall/reinstall, making sure all downloads are not blocked in their properties and installed by using Run as administrator. It could be the redistributables or something else causing the issue.
I don't think there is an easy answer to this one.

Matt, Vanman

Returning to the office yesterday, I worked with Hexagon last afternoon and, due to the nature of this issue, their staff decided to forward it to their development team.

I will certainly consider and may discuss your valuable suggestions during any future dialog with them.

So far, a clean uninstall (w/registry key maintenance) and a reinstall and other methods were attempted by the above with the error reappearing.

I will keep all here updated.

Thanks again!

*** UPDATE *** SUCCESS ***

After the talented and supportive experts at Hexagon forwarded this issue to Alias for investigation, a screen sharing session with them helped identify and resolve the problem with the I-Configure/ISOGEN startup: It was due to a corrupt operating system resource.

As always, I thank you for your participation and hope this helps someone else here.
