Custom BOM Tag

Custom BOM Tag - 11/08/18 08:45 AM

Hello all,

I have a question about a bill of material column I am working with for a new client. This client has commodity codes for their material that they would like labeled on the bill of material. I added a column in my bill to show the TAG which I input when I am creating the specs. It seemed simple enough. My problem is that when I test it out and create an iso there are certain items where the TAG number does not generate. The items that do not work seem to be pipe, gaskets & bolts. Everything else comes out fine (fittings, valves, flanges, etc). I thought this may have something to do with accumulation settings but I can't figure out how to get it to generate.

Have any of you had any experience with this type of problem?

Thanks for the help!

Check the ISOGEN documentation, especially PCF documentation. Pipe, gaskets, and bolts don't support the NAME or TAG attribute.

Ok thanks dgorsman! I was reading through the information I just didn't see that.

If you use COMPONENT-ATTRIBUTE3, you should get the "TAG" field for all items.

The problem with using the TAG or Component Attribute-3 is that if you have valves or other components with identical long descriptions and NB, but different tag values then Isogen will not seperate the tags out, but will accumulate the valves and put the tag of the first valve from the PCF.

What I would recommend is to add Custom Data, then map this to an Isogen Material Attribute. This will seperate out any non unique tags and anot accumulate. The caveat is that custom data does not support Schemas at this time.
