Removing the weld dot from SW fitting SKEYS

Removing the weld dot from SW fitting SKEYS - 05/05/14 08:52 AM

Experts of Isogen :Is the above possible ?

I used to think you could not redefine endtype symbols. Guess what, you can. I changed the threaded (SC) endtype just this morning from a horizontal U shape to just a line.

Now I need to remove the weld dot from the SW fittings. Now this is the issue. It appears this is a combination of two SKEYS being SW + something like WW.

I am really not keen on redefining all the valves and fittings and bedsides you cannot redefine Tees and elbows.

Help me.

There might be a few ways to achieve this. Ultimately, I'd ask, what is the main goal? If this is just for a one-off project, here's one simple way...

Essentially, Thrd endtypes and SW endtypes output from ISOGEN graphically the same. A weld dot is added when using the SW type. You could cheat the system by using **SC (Thrd) instead of **SW (socketweld) SKEY on the components you do not want to show the weld dot.

Yeah. That would work. Only I have redefined the SC SKEY already...

Depending on what other welds are in play, you could set ISOGEN to only plot fabrication welds and keep all SW as erection.

Vanman - how did you show threaded fittings to show only one line and not the u shape that indicates sw for us.

Vanman,

I realize this post is old but can I get those instructions emailed to me for changing the threaded end type to just be a single line? Got some users wanting to fix this and can't find a fix.

email is dustin_coody1@yahoo.com

Thanks

Ok, so I thought I would post this here instead of emailing

Essentially create a new SKEY based on the SFC1 SKEY

Once completed, export to *.asc and load into the I-configure style.

The iso should look like this. There is no way to control the line orientation to my knowledge, you get a situation where you have 1 x horizontal line on one end of an elbow and a vertical line on the other end. It is what it is sadly.
