Piping Deflection calculation in Caesar - 08/29/11 07:50 AM
Hi Richard Ay,
Can you please clarify, why Caesar-II program calculate the deflection of a piping using the fixed end method instead of mean of simply supported and fixed end method.

c2 implements a finite element solution. You can find a number of texts on this subject.

With your information, it seems that finite element solution calculates the deflection equal to the fixed end method.

I suppose Caesar uses a stiffness matrix formulation for elements, including an axial term of the stiffness matrix, a lateral and rotational stiffness term and- depending on options, adding stiffness terms as "Bourdon" effects, etc.
Under these circumstances, I don’t understand how can be done a clarification as you required. Maybe I'm wrong and I'm not able to understand deeply your question.
Best regards.
