PTFE Lined Piping - 04/25/11 06:06 PM

Hello:

Could someone please assist me in modeling PTFE Lined Carbon Steel Piping in Caesar II. I have A53 Grade B, Type E. PTFE Lined Piping. How do I take care of the liner?

Thanks

The liner is assumed to not alter the stiffness of the system. Therefore you only need to consider weight effects. You can model the liner as refractory, just get the density correct.

thanks Richard, where do I input the density of the refractory? Would i just add it to the density of the pipe.?

thanks

From your question I presume your running a version of c2 prior to 5.30? (5.30 has input fields for refractory thickness and density.)

In versions prior to 5.30, what you want to do is specify the thickness of the liner in the insulation field, as a negative number. c2 will assume this is refractory. Then specify the appropriate density in the insulation density field. You need to do it this way incase you put fluid in the pipe, the fluid area is reduced by the thickness of the liner/refractory.
