Steam Tap or Drip leg on main steam header line problems - 04/16/11 02:13 PM
hi to all Guru's,
I have a serious problem with steam trap or low point drains or drip legs, For HP steam header line was constructed with drip legs by weldolet trapping arrangement from header to do drain point for 20" header line with weldolet 20x6 branch out with 1" pipe to drain.
Due to thermal expansion if main steam header pipe moves 100mm in axial direction, and drip leg has expanded and bends even after considering loop in drip leg, how do you justify to check the drip leg is safe.
If the drip leg expands drastically then we need to change the drip leg piping providing enough loop span right. what else we need to take precautions? we have followed standard drip leg design for client specification.
