but in my case system is failing in sustain case for the stresses and they are saying like stresses is reduce by the hanger only and i already use two hanger in my system still its failing now what should i do .

Rajeshvyas,

If your system is failing in sustained case, maybe you do not have enough supports.

Other possibility is that you forget to specify an anchor at nozzle.

Or maybe, even look strange, the fluid density that you inserted is not correct. Check again the density magnitude respect to your units.

First of all ,check input data with Application& User Guides of CII to ensure the code is correct as per how to simulate hanger support ,secondly
check the design temperature ,which determine stress criteria for sustain case acc. to B31.3.
Other possibilities are already included by other sirs.

Check the PRESSURE in this portion of the line and look at the extended Stress report in the area of high stress and element forces/moments to track down what is causing the high stress.

hi guys,

i have a question about spring hangers too. currently i'm diong stress analysis for a offshore platform. the whole mudule is fabricated at yard and once finish it will be towed to the platform.

I was read once that all spring hangers have a locking pin. The purpose of this pin is to lock the spring hangers from operate since spring hangers are designed for operating case only. Therefore I like to know during towing condition, the locking pin is still attached to the spring hangers or already removed.

Some people said that the locking pin will be removed after hydrotest. If they don’t remove the pin before the module is towed, they might have a difficulty to remove the pin once the module arrives at the platform.

this information is very important for me to set the spring hangers as rigid or as design in my analysis. looking for your opinion.

Lock pin will be removed once the hydrotest is over and fluid is set to flow inside pipe. In other words, once line is ready to operate. The spring is set with preset load. Once the lock pin is removed after hydrotest this preset load will impose unbalanced load/ displacement on pipe. This is because pipe is empty and no load exists opposite to preset load. In most of the cases the unbalanced loads will not have significant effect on our piping system. Moreover, if flowing medium is steam or gas (low density), unbalanced loads are very less.

In your case I don't think there should be difficulty in removing pin after module reach at platform. If flowing medium is liquid then it is prudent to remove pin afterwards.

I can confirm that locking pin will be removed only after integration of the module.
