Displacements in Caesar....how are they considered? - 11/25/10 09:23 AM

Hi,

During analysis I am facing a problem
I have given displacements at particular node with 8 different combinations from D1 to D8. The model fails. But if I re-run the analysis with same combinations in splitted form say 4 displacements in one file & remaining 4 in other file the model is safe.

Can anyone tell me why is it so?
Because as per my understanding each displacement in individual one with no connection to other combination.

Thanks in advance.

Something is wrong. Send the job files in to Tech Support so we can take a look at what you have done.

I think that the problem is the allowable. You have to maintain the design temperature in both files.

It could be as "danb" states, or it could be your set of displacements (fixed versus free) if you've left certain DOFs free in some of the displacement vectors.

If you can't figure it out, send the 3 models in to TechSupport so we can review what you've done.

The problem in this forum is that usually nobody provides any feed-back.
Why?

Yes, it would be nice when several suggestions (guesses) are put forth that a resolution could be reported. We would all learn from this.
