How to build the "movable anchor" in CAESAR II - 07/28/10 01:14 AM

I am working on a Jetty Pipeline Project. Due to the effect of wave, we need to consider the displacement between two anchors. So anyone know how to build the "movable anchor" in CAESAR II? I need to simulate the situation that one anchor is fixed and another one can move in x direction. Anyone can help me? Please...
Cheers

Use Displacements. Read the User Guide.

Zero displacement in all translation and rotation directions = full anchor.

Thanks a lot. Should use Restraints and Displacement together or only use Displacement is ok?

To use a movable anchor say at node 10 in your model, Mark 10 as anchor with a Cnode say 11.

Then on the same element in spreadsheet, mark displacement at node 11 in desired direction under vectors.(Mark all other Degree of freedom zero, if you wish displacement only in one direction say X = +5 mm)Refer attached snapshot

Dont forgot to mark Cnode with movable anchor as caesar wont allow you to mark restraint and displaement at same node at a time. Also dont forget to make DY,DZ,RX,RY,RZ as 0.

Check:
Go to output - restraint summary extended and select the operating case with dispalcement vector included, and check dispalcement at that support. It should be equal to your induced dispalcement (Hope no wind or uniform load is applied in that load case) Refer attached snapshot

You don't need cnodes etc.

Just impose displacements in all six planes at the 'restraint' node to move your anchor.

You cannot use a restraint (such as an anchor) in the same direction and node as an imposed displacement.
