[Search] on the word "compatible", you'll find this topic discussed many times.

I found a way and it may help you as well. Do read what Richard pointed out to you also, may be they have a better method.

1- Open CII-5.2 and Convert the CII file to CII neutral file.
2- Now open CII-5.1 and Convert the CII neutral file back to CII file.

Let me know if this helped or not!

Salz

The neutral file method that "salz64" mentions above only works if there is no "new data" added between the two versions. If the newer version has extra data, the older version won't be able to read the neutral file.

This is clearly stated in the "Distribution Letter" which you can find at the front of the "User's Manual". The letter states that input files are NOT downward compatible.

........after i convert the CII neutral file back to CII file,, why i cannot open it to CII-5.0?

It is possible convert CII-5.2 to CII-5.0? If yes, how can be done?

Convert back the CII neutral file using 5.0

But note that this method is not a 100% safe method. It may or it may not work.

There is no other options to do this, since these procedures may not work.

As Richard said:

"Short answer: piping input files are never downward compatible due to data changes and additions."

Other option that I heard is to export the caesar file into a CAD program then to reimport into a lower version. But I expect that it will not work very well.
