WRC 297 Restraint Summary Output

Is the WRC 297 output shown in the restraint summary in local coordinates for the nozzle or is the output in global coordinates? If it is in global coordinates can the forces shown in the local force be used to report local forces on the nozzle (i.e. does this report account for nozzle flexiblity?)

If you are talking about the standard CAESAR II Static Analysis Restraint Summary, then the loads are in Global Coordinates". Assuming you have only a single pipe running into the nozzle, then yes you can use the "Local Force Report" to obtain the nozzle forces in the local coordinate system of that pipe.

Alternatively, you can refer to a previous newsletter article discussing Global to Local conversions. There is a small utility program that accompanies this article that you can download to perform these conversions.

If you plan on evaluating the WRC-297 stresses (using the module from the "Analysis Menu"), then you don't need to worry about any of this, because this module allows you to read the static output results, and will perform the global to local conversion for you.
