Internal Pressure effect - Spring Hot load - 10/29/09 02:38 AM

Why internal pressure effect is not considered in Spring Hot load calculation?

Hi Sillyman

Spring is selected based on load & displacement of that particular point.
For nomal metallic pipe pressure elongation effect is ignorer ( Very minor).
So for spring selection also pressure don't influence much.

Hello,

Does Anyone knows about the internal friction for the spring hanger? I tried to look in the mannual as we are using LISEGA mannual but nothing has specified about this? Does it really affect the spring selection? In my case we have to use the internal friction for the spring hangers (as per client requirmenet), I presume that this might affect the forces on the spring hanger.

Comments please.

Hi RK

In general practice friction is ignore from caesar model for spring. If it is client's requirement you need to use that. Friction will act perpendicular direction than spring load so friction will not change significantly spring load.
In case axial movement of pipe is high where spring is used some people recommend teflon pad for that particular type spring if spring is padestal type.
