Weldolet Crotch radious - 10/27/09 04:23 PM

Hi,
I need to know if it's possible to apply crotch rad. for weldolets. If so, where I can get it or how it can be calculated?

I am not sure what you are looking for but it sounds like the "Consolidation Chart" found on pages 30 to 32 on this web site might be of help.

Thank you Jop
What I'm loooking for is the crotch radius for weldolets and unfortunately I didin't find it in the chart you attached.
As you know, you can enter this parameter in the SIF definition in CAESAR ll to reduce stress intensification factor.
There are some values for the croth radius for some branch connection types like Tees in ASME B31.3 but I can't find that of Weldolets.

The crotch radius you apply should be what is achievable by welders during fabrication. I have used 2mm and 1mm before and have specified them on the isometrics for the fabricators. Some codes give a minimum value. I use TD12 code and it specifies 1mm if the radius is unknown.
