Query regarding Riser Analysis in Subsea Pipeline. - 07/14/09 05:34 AM

Hello Everybody,

Currently we are trying to analysis Risers of Subsea Pipelines that are connected to platforms. The Version of CAESAR II that we are using currently is 5.0.

Please suggest us which module of CAESAR II 5.0 is suitable for Riser Analysis.

There isn't a "module" for riser analysis. What you want to do is build your model as normal, but for the submerged sections check the "wind/wave" check box. Then when you setup your static load cases, define the hydrodynamic loading parametes on the "Wave tab".

Hi,

I have the same case to analyze, but I use CAESAR II 5.2.

I analyze the pipeline that runs from the coast to a platform anchor, in the Riser, thats mean, one part is buried, one on the seabed and another emerges to the platform, the riser.

1.- Can I model, in the same analysis, the buried section and the seabed section, utilize the wave analysis?.

2.- When the riser up to the platform (only 5 meters), are continuing the wave analysis change to wind analysis?

Thanks on advance.

Mirian,

Yes you can do all of this in the same model/run.

1) Be careful with the section on the seabed. In c2, the pipe is either buried or it is not. You can't automatically handle pipe resting on the seabed (ground). You'll need to develop your own set of restraints for this.

2) Yes, when the pipe exits the water you would switch from "wave" to "wind" at that node point.
