Need function of inputting insulation weight per meter/foot

Need function of inputting insulation weight per meter/foot - 04/28/09 12:43 AM

Dear RICHARD AY.

My company use a software to calculate insulation, the software calculate insulation thickness and insualtion weight(including the weight of insulation and protective metal wall) per meter long.

So it will be really convenient if cII have the function allowing user to input insulation weight per meter long directly instead of inputing insulation density.

By the way ,Why CII don't consider the weight CHANGE if I specify
the wall thickness(different with the connecting pipe) of bend.

Best Regards

whm,

Can you tell me what is the name of the software that your company use to calculate insulation thickness?

thanks

Changing the insulation "weight" from density to a "unit weight" would be a big deal. This won't happen anytime soon.

The weight change of an elbow will be considered if you change the thickness on the main spreadsheet (right below the diameter field). If you simply change the fitting thickness, that value simply adjusts the SIF and flexibility factor.

Dear Jorge MB,

The software our company used now is not a commercial sofeware, it is
an in house sofeware used in some design companys in china. programmed according to chinese insulation design Code. In the past,we didn't use CII,
and use another programme to analysis piping stress. That programme accept insualtion weight(including the weight of insulation and protective metal wall) per meter long.

Dear RICHARD AY,

Thank you for your reply. Why i ask this question is that,if you want to include the weight of protective metal wall(plate), you have to calculate the average density of insulation material and the metal plate.
