Stress colour display - 04/24/09 12:30 PM

Is Caesar II able to display on the 3d line colour related to stress (as it's possible in the most famous FEA softwares).
It seems it's possible reading the manual but I unfortunately didn't find the way to do it, it's very for a qualitative analysis...
Thanks

I presume you're talking about coloring the pipes based on the stress level? Yes you can do this, assuming you're in "rendered mode". This option isn't available if you're in "single line mode".

Use the toolbar button that has the "lower case sigma" icon.

I see it works only if the code compliance fails, if there are overstresses... right??
Yesterday I had to do a Nema 23 check, in this application everything was B31.3 compliant but not Nema since it requires very little load on nozzles. The possibility to use stress related colours would be very helpful.
Many thanks

The piping doesn't have to be overstressed for the color contouring to be used. However, there must be a variety of stress levels in the system, otherwise everthing is the same color.

Colored contours are based on stress only, not load.
