Load case - 03/28/09 06:01 AM

Hello Sir,

I have a doubt in load case combination method for Non Linear Analysis

Load cases

L1.W+T1+P1 (OPE)
L2.W+P1 (SUS)
L3.W+T1+P1+WIN1 (OPE)
L4.W+T1+P1+WIN2 (OPE)

L5.L3-L1 (OCC) (WHETHER SCALAR OR ALGEBRAIC)
L6.L4-L1 (OCC) (WHETHER SCALAR OR ALGEBRAIC)

L7.L1-L2 (EXP) (ALGEBRAIC)
L8.L2+L5 (OCC) (SCALAR/ABSOLUTE)
L9.L2+L6 (OCC) (SCALAR/ABSOLUTE)

As we know The stresses will be different when you use scalar /algebraic.

For load case 5 and 6 (dummy cases) which combination should be used whether scalar or algebraic, which will be appropiate as this cases are used to build the load cases 8 and 9(sus+wind).

I think your correct loads is:
L1. W+T1+P1 (OPE)

L2. W+T1+P1+WIN1 (OPE) (north)
L3. W+T1+P1+WIN2 (OPE) (east)
(other 2 case of ope + wind IF you have wind from four direction ????)
L4. W+T1+P1-WIN1 (OPE) (south)
L5. W+T1+P1-WIN2 (OPE) (west)

L6. W+P1 (SUS)

L7. L2-L1 (OCC)
L8. L3-L1 (OCC)
L9. L4-L1 (OCC)
L10. L5-L1 (OCC)
CASE L7.8.9.10 USE ALGEBRAIC

L11. L7+L6 (OCC)
L12. L8+L6 (OCC)
L13. L9+L6 (OCC)
L14. L10+L6 (OCC)
CASE L11.12.13.14 USE SCALAR

L15. L1-L6 (EXP)
CASE L15 USE ALGEBRAIC

Marian is correct.

Thank you Marian ,Richard For your replies

Why not we should use scalar in Load cases L7 to L10.

Because scalar combination can be used when we know the directions of the
forces.

In the Load Case Editor, go to the "Load Case Options" tab and read the "help" on the combination options. Note the examples ...
