how to disable auto zoom out?

how to disable auto zoom out? - 02/18/09 07:27 PM

Hi everyone,

I have encountered a rather annoying feature while modeling a pipe system.
Every time I add new pipe to the model or enter restraint details or add rigids, the model graphics will zoom out to the extents of the model automatically. This can be particularly annoying when working on a smaller section of a larger model.

Is there a way to disable this auto zoom out so the view point stays put?

any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Pull down the "Environment" menu and toggle the setting of "Reset view on Refresh".

Typically for new models you want the model rescaled as you enter pipe, so it all fits in the window. However, when editing existing models you usually don't want this behavior. This option flips this behavior.

Can this be turned off by default so I don't have to keep turning it off everytime I open a model?

The way this is supposed to work is:
- for new jobs the re-scale function is turned on
- for existing jobs the re-scale function is turned off

The toggle switch on the menu allows you to alter the setting. There is no facility to permanently fix the setting.

I experienced the same problem and am very happy to see that I can actually turn off this behaviour (the Menu option name was rather misleading for me so I did not find it).

I checked the behaviour but for me also at existing jobs the default setting for auto rescale is turned on, which is very annoying indeed. Maybe this is the same problem as for the size and position of the Input window (I keep on resizing en repos the window, actual state is never saved).
