Hanger with Support Steel Moving

Hanger with Support Steel Moving - 02/18/09 05:47 AM

Can someone help me out or at least point me in the right direction on how to model the following?

I have a situation where I am hanging some pipe off of a platform that attatches to a fabric filter. The platform will move with the fabric filter during startup of the system as the fabric filter expands outward and so do the platforms.(the fabric filter temp = 350F).

My question is this. How do I input deflections at the pivot point of the hangers (+YROD) where it attaches to the platform? I am thinking that this requires the use of CNODES. However, I have no NODES at the attachment point of the hanger to where the steel is located. I am assuming that I will need to use the Structural Steel modeler to provide NODES for the attachment of the hangers to so that the CNODES can be specified under the YROD definition....OR is there another method that does not require the use of the Structural Modeler. (I already know the displacement of the platform). By the way, the swing angle of the hangers will only
be about 2.5degrees.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

HI Mike
Yes you can make the system by CNODE itself.
Say your hanger is at node 100.
Take CNODE 101 with same hanger node.
Put displacement at node 101.
caesar will replicate the system as you want.
Do not bother much about physical support detailing.
Piping system in caesar will understand displacement, not how this displacemet came into picture.
