Jacketed Pipe Buckling Load Calcs

Jacketed Pipe Buckling Load Calcs - 08/30/00 06:59 PM

Does Caesar II handle the calculation of critical buckling loads in straight spools of jacketed piping? The loads are generally highest when fluid in the core pipe is somewhat hotter than the fluid in the annular space. Dissimilar materials also contribute. It has been over 10 yrs since I have done pipe stress analyses. We always had to check the loads that were output using desktop calcs.

No, CAESAR II does not compute critical buckling loads on jacketed piping. This is beyond the scope of the software.

What I did is just model piping system correctly ( including anchor connection between core piping and jacket piping, and valve flanges etc), then compare the compress anxial force between two anchor connection with manually calculated critical loading for the considered piping system.

Dear

I suggest an article which is titled "How to stress analyze jacketed piping" from "'Hydrocarbon Processing' Journal , Febtuary 1978'.
