Load case combination method for occasional load case - 09/16/08 02:23 AM

I have seen people are using different approach for load combination method for occasional load case .
Like say if below is the load case
1) W+P+T ( OPE)
2) W+P+T+F (OPE )
3) W+P ( SUS )
4) L2-L1 ( OCC)
5) L3+L4 ( OCC )
6) L1-L3 ( EXP )
Then combination different method as mention bellow.
a) L4 algebraic & L5 absolute method
b) L4 scalar & L5 absolute method
c) L4 algebraic & L5 scalar method

My question is which one among three is more technically correct?

Dear shr,

Simply go to the link below and download the pdf file there. Go to relief valve case by considering F1 only for example.

Thanks Mani & Samsul

From the document Samsul mention I find the Option a & option c as I mention in my previous post will give the same result, occasional stress point of view.
Yes I personally checked one file it gives same stress. So both the option can be used.

Thanks & Regards

i think, absolute and scalar combination is the same when calculate stress, cause stress >1.so your a=c,while for b31.1,scalar combination is required for check the occ stress.
