Thanks Rich, that is good news.

I have often referred to Mr. Sockalingam "Sam" Kannappan's previous editions of this book. I reached up and pulled down one of my copies when I read Rich's posting and I find that it is STILL good reading. A new updated edition (more than 20 years after the first edition) will certainly be welcome.

On my book shelf I have:

Introduction to pipe stress analysis
by Sam Kannappan
Publisher: Malabar, Fla. : Krieger Pub. Co., 1992.

Introduction to pipe stress analysis
by Sam Kannappan
Publisher: New York : Wiley, 1986.

Regards, John.

I talked with Sam last week and Sam stated that this is a REPRINT due to renewed interest. An updated edition is still in the 'near' future.

Will there be an electronic version? As people like me living far away from USA can benefit from downloadable versions only.

Electronic copies eh??? Sounds like illegal copyright issues... why write a book if there is no money in it for you?

This is the reason why we have many good books "out of print". Should be discouraged on forum.

I think it will be available thru amazon or any ebooks. E-file are discouraging authors to write good books because its a source of piracy.

JayDee,

Thanks for link, but people were asking for the downloadable version. This link is for hardcopies.

Dont copy illegally as it really discourages the original writer.

As John C. Luf wrote "why write a book if there is no money in it for you?" True. Very True.

Re: Book Signing - April 22 - 04/16/08 12:56 AM

First, my view is the view of a learner and not an expert's.

To the extent I know, Sam Kanappan's original book had two volumes and I never got a chance to read the second one.Regarding the first one, my view is that it is an average book and certainly not in the class of Piping and pipe support systems by Thomas J Van Laan , Piping and Pipeline engineering by George Antaki or Process Piping by Charles Becht.
