Stress analysis of lines on a FPU

Stress analysis of lines on a FPU - 01/17/08 02:10 AM

I need some good information on how to analyse pipes on a floating unit.
Lines are going to deflect due to ship movement and this has to be taken care. Moreover we have to do the fatigue analysis of these lines. What I am looking for is .,

1) A simplistic and effective approach to analyse lines on a floating unit.It is a high volume of work to include ship displacements on every restraint of the line.

2) As all the lines are going to deflect due to ship movement,do we have to analyse every line eventhough it doesnot fall in the stress critical line list?

3) How do we do the fatigue analysis?

any suggestions.better would be with some sample files if possible.

Thanks a tonne.

Need the same information.

Has this been addressed in another thread?

Thanks

There has been other threads on this subject.

Beware, it is a minefield, you really need expert help. There have been countless piping failures on FPSO's, mostly due to fatigue caused by imposed displacements and/or accelerations.

I would suggest that there is no simplistic approach. You will need to address loads in support and restraint elements as well as in piping.

Please read DNV-RP-D101

It is the best material you can find.
Other good one is UKOOA design guidance note
